Expanding one’s family as a parent is always a heartwarming experience, especially when it’s with a loved one who shares the same vision. Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, tied the knot in 2012, embarking on a journey of family expansion together.
Alec Baldwin first crossed paths with Hilaria Baldwin in 2011, and the two exchanged vows the following year in 2012. Their union quickly blossomed into a family affair, with their first child welcomed in 2013. Over the years, they joyfully added four more children to their family before embracing their sixth child through surrogacy.
In April 2021, the couple shared the exciting news that they were expecting their seventh child together, delighting fans who celebrated their growing and loving family.
Hilaria enthusiastically announced her daughter’s arrival on her Instagram account, sharing a collection of photos and videos alongside the caption: “She’s here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true, Ilaria Catalina Irena.”
While this marks Alec Baldwin’s eighth child in total, it is his seventh child with his current wife, Hilaria. His oldest daughter, Ireland Baldwin, is from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger.
In her Instagram post, Hilaria provided details about their newest family member, revealing that their daughter was born on September 22, 2022, weighing 6 lbs. and 13 ounces. She happily added, “Both she and I are happy and healthy.”
Hilaria also shared the excitement of their other children about welcoming their new sibling, noting that her “Baldwinito” siblings spent the day bonding with and welcoming the new addition into their home.
The couple released an official birth announcement via People Magazine, expressing their gratitude for their new daughter and emphasizing the love and magic she brings into their lives.
While the Baldwins cherish their expanding family, Hilaria Baldwin acknowledged that not everyone understands their decision to have a large family. She addressed this in a recent post, sharing, “7th baby: when people ask or comment, we often go to silly and very self-deprecating jokes on my part. I love to laugh at myself—so it’s all good…keeps me sane. All jokes aside, however, I am grateful for this experience.”
Hilaria elaborated on her perspective, expressing, “I know too well the joys and the losses, the beauty and the heartache, that motherhood brings. I have learned to respect and embrace the wonderful, the hard, the uncomfortable, the magical, and the unknown of this incredible process I am so blessed to experience again and again.”
Despite their happiness, the couple faced criticism over the name they chose for their seventh child, Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin. Known for selecting unique names with Spanish origins for their children, the Baldwins faced scrutiny due to Hilaria’s heritage controversy in 2020. Some criticized her for misrepresenting her heritage, alleging that she used a fake Spanish accent and questioned the authenticity of the names she chose for their children.
However, it’s worth noting that “Ilaria” is Italian for “Hilary” and means cheerful. It was a popular Italian girl’s name in 2006, providing insight into the naming choice for their daughter.
